Preparing for the Journey

It helps to have a map, itinerary, or even hotel reservations when setting out on a journey. The writer works with symbols that settle reader in for the journey.

Swimming

During vacation I made a point of making sure I went into the ocean each day, just wading. Marine therapy is so good for the body and soul.
I also went swimming during that time. It was great. Exercise and deep breathing deepens my sleep.

Our Bodies, Our Temples

We go through this rhythm as writers and artists–that of taking in and then purging or rather creating.
Reading fiction and also poetry, visiting museums, listening to music–all of these activities are the various wells from which we draw water and replenish our unconscious.
